Testing for ADHD takes on many forms. We begin by doing a simple assessment to see if there is a qualification for more intense assessments. If qualification has been met we do a thorough history and may recommend a physical be done by your PCP. Once completed we move on to rating scales.
Rating scales are completed by the individual and those close to them. This will be teachers and parents for children and may be spouses and parents for adults. While waiting for the rating scales to be completed we also offer a computerized test that helps take some of the personal views out of the diagnostic information. Once all of the information has been combined and reviewed we will sit down to go over it and develop a treatment plan.
Insurance is a huge question when it comes to testing. Few insurance companies will pay for all of the testing, but they will all pay for parts of the above process. Typically we bill insurance for all of our clients and wait to charge them once we know what insurance won’t cover. In this case we work a bit differently. We will charge you a fee in advance. If your insurance company pays for all or part of the testing you will receive a credit on your account toward the second part of the experience, IE the treatment sessions. OR you can use the credit towards classes that we will be offering throughout the year.
Cost- The package cost for the initial qualification assessment, history, rating scales, and computerized testing is $650
Treatment- Based upon all of the information collected we will create a treatment plan. This plan may include individual, parents, couples, family, or group sessions. It could include a combination of those types of sessions as well. Depending on your needs we may cover organization, communication, social, parenting, financial, or time management skills. Modalities can include animal assisted therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness. You may not see the same therapist for the entire time, as we all have different strengths in these areas.
Insurance should pay for these sessions, but we can also work out a package for them.
Services- Kelly offers consultation services for 504s and IEPs. She will also go to school meetings. These services are NOT covered by insurance, nor are any letters written on a client’s behalf.
Classes We will be hosting classes once a month that will cover a number of topics about ADHD. Among them are nutrition, medication and medication alternatives, and parenting for your ADHD child. These are not covered by insurance and you can find the costs under group therapy on our website.
We will be publicizing these on our Facebook page, our blog and on Instagram.
